BEACH, SUN & RWMF

I think I've been deprived of fun or maybe a holiday somewhere for too long. I had fun at the RWMF 2007 aka Heineken Beer festival and also at Damai. RWMF is an acquired taste. I went for the last night. I thought the first few groups were ok. Khac Chi had really cute bamboo instruments. Aseana Percussion Unit was the best. :p Too bad Black Umfolosi only came out to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" for the finale. Duhhh....because they already performed on Friday. They were good when I saw them perform in 2002. They looked so nice in their construction worker outifts. They looked really cute in their cow skin outfits on Sunday.

That's one of the 2 hilltop rooms we occupied. Damn comfy and big but we had to use a shuttle everytime we needed to go to the beach or to SCV or to the main reception area. That's the only downside - kinda far from the main resort area. Managed to book this room at the last minute on Thursday. Much remains to be said about Damai's so-called marketing strategy where they hold on to rooms till the last minute to hike up the price. I think there were only 3-4 rooms occupied on that last night in our block. So much for a "good" marketing strategy. That's a view from the hilltop. Thank God it didn't rain at all when we were there.

Kayaking at Camp Permai/Damai Lagoon (soon-to-be Damai Puri)'s beach. Ah Lian stole my camp. I love the sun and the sea. Too bad my partner and I were a bit sunburnt and chicken to kayak too far out to sea with the others. Damn kayak "penjaga" was MIANG!!!

Black Umfolosi's War Dance workshop. I just love them. That was the only workshop we attended after the kayaking session. Very very hot. Don't they just look so cute in their cow skin outfits?:)

The night's performances were okay at the beginning. I think things started getting more happening when Inka Marka from South America came on. They were pretty good.

Then Aseana Percussion Unit from KL came on. I thought they were the BEST for the night. They really got the crowd going. Interesting that a Malaysian group could turn out to be one of the best if not the best. You knowlah we very "kua soi" our own people. So, better stop looking down on our own people. This group was GREAT!

Shannon from Poland was the next one. They were good as well. They look more Scottish than Polish with the bagpipes and kilt and all. The violinist was GOOD!!! Interesting group as well. Look at the sexy Scottish look-a-likes playing. They look so GOOODDDDDDD!

Those weren't the only groups for the night but the only pictures I managed to get. That's Black Umfolosi heading the line-up for the finale. They sang "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". SO CUTEEE!!! And I think that's the group of performers during the finale.

A section of the crowd from where we were. There were A LOT of people. That guy's doing an imitation of "I believe I can fly". There were lots of interesting people around. You would never have imagined seeing quite a few people walking around shirtless(Channel V VJ included in the afternoon) or in bikinis in Kuching. Seeing is believing all at RWMF. But I guess that adds to the festival atmosphere and the fact it's so near the seaside.

Look below!!! Now, don't I see a HOT eurasian guy standing there while his wife is being interviewed? That's Alex Yoong. Man, seriously. He was a distraction for the night. A few of us were busy eyeing him and not paying attention to the groups in front. Hey, even if he was a F1 has been, he's still good-looking. Being an A1 driver ain't that bad. Seriously, he's got the looks. :P

Lamomok said, "There's lots of SPGs around but they're not from S". We said ,"KPG coz they're from K". :P If you translate properly, KPG is short form for Kuching Party Girl and also KAMPUNG!!!!!

Decided to drag Ah Lian out of bed and head for breakfast and the beach. Did a reenacment of one of my favorite shots at the beach. :P The photo below was taken in 2005 during the Prefect Camp.

Had fun at the RWMF though my body ached like crazy the next day because I was a bit siau that night and also from the sunburn. I'm like a few shades darker than before I went.
